MCT Berhad (MCT) organised a tree planting programme as part of its sustainability efforts to make the community greener and increase awareness of the importance of looking after the environment. MCT conducted its first exercise by planting 100 trees within its Cybersouth township in Dengkil.
The plants were planted at the township’s clubhouse community park by MCT employees from various departments.
MCT Berhad CEO Teh Heng Chong said this program is also in support of the state government’s initiative of planting more trees in Selangor.
“We will always support the government’s initiative as we share the same goals, which is to minimise carbon emission and preserve mother nature,” said Teh.
“This is the first tree-planting initiative by MCT this year and we aim to continue with this program annually,” he continued.
Among the species of trees and shrubs selected were Tembusu Fagraea Fragrans and Crepe Jasmine Tabernaemontana Divaricata.
“We selected the tree species for their ability to provide ample shade, produce oxygen, and that their roots will not damage the sidewalks of the park,” ended Teh.
Also present at the event was MCT Berhad Chief Operations Officer Pol Tanco. The program ended with fun-filled activities for the staff at the Cybersouth Sales Gallery.
